Bruce Springsteen and His American Classic Cars
It is no secret Bruce Springsteen loves classic cars. He’s penned songs like Cadillac Ranch, Racing in the Street and Pink Cadillac. You can’t blame the crooner. With the ability to have almost anything you want, who would not go for an American classic car? Two classic cars in Springsteen’s personal collection have received notable recognition.
The Boss’s ‘57 Bel Air
The Boss’s 1957 Chevy Bel Air is one of the world’s most sought out collector’s item. The iconic, American classic car was sold within the last decade to a classic car collector and Springsteen fan who laid out over $450,000 for the yellow, flame-detailed beauty.
The 1957 Bel Air was Chevy’s flagship ride. It featured Chevy’s V8 small-block engine and spit out 283 horsepower with Chevy’s Ramjet fuel injection upgrade. The Bel Air distinguished itself from its cousin with a healthy dose of shiny chrome trim all over. In 1957, the Bel Air sold brand new for under $3,000.
An American Classic
In 2013, Bruce Springsteen’s 1960 Corvette Ragtop garnered national attention when he loaned it to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame where he was inducted in 1999.
The 1960 was GM’s top-grossing year for the Corvette, which earned it a permanent place in the manufacturer’s lineup.
The top-of-the-line 1960 Vette featured a 240 horsepower engine and a Powerglide transmission as well as aluminum heads and fuel injection.
Springsteen drove cars that were known for their power and performance. And he brought that same energy to his music for almost the last 50 years. His albums in the 70’s laid the foundation for his success and his legions of fans include some of the most hardcore car enthusiasts you will find anywhere.
